We believe the Gospel, namely the good news of the kingdom of God, is humanity’s only hope.
We believe that Christ promises forgiveness of sins; we can know that our sins are forgiven.
We believe in justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Meaning, the way we have peace with God and are holy before him (justification) is by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-10, Acts 4:12, John 10:9)
God gives us specific directions for good works, things that are good for our community and glorify him. We remember that these good deeds do not do anything to merit good standing before God; Christ finished that work. Rather, they are to love our neighbor, building healthy and stable community. (Ephesians 2:10)
We believe the Bible is God’s word, the Old and New Testaments. (Matthew 4:4-10, 2 Timothy 3:14-17, Romans 15:3-4)
We believe in the trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 13:11)
We believe in the physical, bodily return of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 22:20, Mark 14:62, Acts 1:11)
Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can work for or earn in any way. Our relationship with God is not based on our performance, good or bad, but on Christ and His completed work.
In salvation, God gives us many gifts, also known as “means of grace”. Three of these gracious gifts stand out to us, as they have specific promises from God attached to them:
also known as preaching, worship, and confession, is where God’s word is spoken over us, sung over us, and we remind each other that we are forgiven. (Romans 10, John 20:23, 1 John 1:5-10)
also known as Communion, is when we drink wine and eat bread to receive the Lord’s body (bread) and blood (wine), joining the new covenant.(Matthew 26:26-28, Luke 22:19-20, Mark 14:22-24, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, John 6)
also known as Baptism, where, in water, we join Christ in his death and resurrection. Baptism assures us that we have believed and are forgiven of our sins. God washes us with his word and renews us by the Holy Spirit (Romans 6, Luke 3:3, Mark 1:5, Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:20-22, Titus 3:4-7, Ephesians 5:26, Mark 16:16)
In each of these gifts, God knows that we need physical things, so he gives us a physical experience with eternal significance. These gifts are not a “work” that we do, but a work that God does for us.
We affirm the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed.
our beliefs
The edible Word:
The Audible Word:
The watered Word:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
The apostle's creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
And i believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, christian and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
